“The Resurrection and the Life!” April 8, 2012

It is so fitting that the resurrection of Jesus which we celebrate this Sunday occurred in the Springtime of the year. All of nature responds to the changing of the seasons as the days grow longer and the earth warms up, bringing back to vibrant life the seeds that have lain dormant as if dead all through the winter. It is the “rolling away of the stone” which symbolizes the removal of the blinders that sometimes seem to block us from the light of the truth. During the “dark nights of the soul” that many of us have experienced, it is as though something within us has died and we feel so alone, so entombed in darkness that there seems no possibility of hope. Yet, just as the seed buried in the ground is not dead, but instead carries with it all the potential of vibrant growth and expansion into the yet-to-be, so that divine spark which is embedded in our very being lies waiting for us to recognize it and nurture it with the warmth of our understanding of the nature of Life into its full expression as a fully realized spiritual being. So today as we enter into our time of meditation, let us each, in our own way, celebrate our personal resurrection into the expanding expression of Spirit that we were created to be.
